Achievements — and What They Mean to Us
We are proud of what Wavemaker Staffords have accomplished, but the list matters most when it tells us something about the dogs.
Conformation
Wavemaker Staffords have earned Championships and Grand Championships, specialty Best of Breed awards, National Specialty recognition, Terrier Group placements, Westminster placements, Montgomery County Kennel Club wins and multiple Crufts qualifications.
Felix’s recent record includes the SBTCA #1 Stafford position in 2023 and 2024, Best of Opposite Sex at the 2024 SBTCA National Specialty and Best of Breed at the 2025 SBTCA National Specialty.
Performance
Across generations, Wavemaker dogs have titled in agility, scent work, rally, obedience, coursing, Fast CAT, dock diving, weight pull, Barn Hunt, tricks and other sports. Marina’s induction into the NADD Hall of Fame and Schooner’s multiple top Stafford agility seasons are especially meaningful examples of the physical versatility we want the breed to retain.
Temperament & everyday citizenship
Titles such as Canine Good Citizen, temperament testing and home-manners recognition are less glamorous than a specialty win, but they speak to the dog people actually live with. Wavemaker dogs have also served in medical-alert/service roles and public education settings with their individual owners.
Breeding & longevity
A show record is visible quickly. The deeper record takes years: what a dog produces, how relatives age, whether temperament remains sound, what health appears across generations and whether owners still love living with the dogs long after the puppy photographs.
Education, rescue & preservation
Our work outside the ring includes The Stafford Knot, Inc., breed-standard education, publications, seminars and mentoring, rescue fundraising and support, canine legislation and preservation of Stafford history.
We keep records because they are part of the story. We do not confuse the record with the purpose.
The purpose remains the dog.
