Preserve the Stafford. Respect the whole dog.
Wavemaker Staffords exists to preserve and promote the Staffordshire Bull Terrier as a healthy, sound, stable, athletic and unmistakably breed-typical companion.
Our breeding decisions begin with the whole dog: temperament, health, structure, movement, breed type, longevity and the ability to live well in a family. No single feature — not a head, a color, a pedigree, a title or a ranking — is important enough to excuse weakness elsewhere.
We believe health information should be transparent and verifiable. Breeding dogs are screened for the breed-relevant conditions appropriate to them, and results are made available through recognized health databases whenever possible. A health test is not a marketing phrase; it is documentation.
We believe a Stafford should be physically capable. Appropriate exercise, conditioning, enrichment and training are part of maintaining the active, agile terrier described by the Breed Standard.
We raise our dogs with a low-drama, hands-on husbandry philosophy that we have long called natural rearing: thoughtful nutrition, clean surroundings, fresh air, exercise, enrichment, careful observation and avoidance of unnecessary intervention. Preventive and medical care decisions are made individually and responsibly, with qualified veterinary guidance when needed.
We breed rarely. Puppies are placed only after substantial conversation, and we do not ship puppies as anonymous transactions or sell them sight unseen. We want to know the people who will become part of a Wavemaker dog’s life.
Most importantly, every dog we breed remains our responsibility for life. If a Wavemaker Stafford ever needs another home, we want to know and we will help.
Well-loved pets first. Everything else is an extra.
