Maylee is from a co-bred litter between Felix and Boujie, and from the beginning we knew we wanted her future to be about far more than a pedigree.
We wanted her in a home where she would be loved first, challenged when she wanted to work, and allowed to become exactly the Stafford she was meant to be.
She found that with Ally.
A Stafford Friendship That Goes Back Years
We originally met Ally through Stafford rescue, through our longtime Stafford connections with Kelly Cromwell and Elissa, Schooner’s owner.
That shared world of rescue, Staffords, friendship and trust goes back many years, which made Ally’s home feel especially right for Maylee.
She is not simply someone who owns one of our dogs.
She is someone we know, trust and value.
And knowing that Maylee is living with someone who understands Staffords, appreciates them for what they are, and loves her without conditions means everything to us.
Making Her Own Waves
Maylee is already making her own waves.
She earned her Barn Hunt Novice (RATN) title, passed the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program easily, and has begun learning scent work.
We have every reason to believe there will be more accomplishments ahead.
But titles are not the goal.
They are simply things Maylee and Ally may enjoy doing together.
If she earns a long list of them, wonderful.
If she decides there are better things to do, that is equally fine.
Maylee does not need to prove herself to us.
What matters is that she is healthy, happy, loved, mentally engaged, and given the opportunity to grow into a confident, sound Stafford.
That is the real measure of success.
Watching Her Become Herself
One of the joys of breeding is watching a puppy leave your hands and gradually become someone else’s dog.
Not just a dog who lives in another home, but a true partnership.
That is what Maylee and Ally are becoming, even though we only had Maylee in our hands a short time due to circumstances beyond our control.
Maylee is learning, exploring, working and maturing at her own pace, and Ally is giving her the space to do exactly that.
We have high hopes for her, but not because we need anything from her.
We simply think she is a lovely young Stafford with a bright future and a person beside her who will let that future unfold naturally.
There was some difficulty surrounding the litter itself, but that has very little to do with the dog standing in front of us today.
Maylee’s life is about what comes next.
And what comes next looks very good indeed.
We are enormously grateful that she is here, that she is thriving, and that she is exactly where she belongs.
Staffords first. Always.
